WHAT
WE DO
Apart from the seemingly neverending fundraising process for the new ArcHIVE software, we also endeavor to provide free advice on systems of archiving, conservation of heritage resources, and highlight heritage in need of help... and some other programs/projects occasionally!
PROGRAMS & PROJECTS.
Below are our current projects, most of them are free information sources that we hope you'll get involved in, please when/if you do, let us know or share the appropriate project hashtag on social media. We hope that we can emancipate you in the preservation of your own communities heritage and that one day ArcHIVE will be in a position to work with you further with the actual ArcHIVE software.
Here you'll find as much information and as many resources as we can produce/gather to help you conserve your communities' local history archive in the best possible way for future generations.
Here you'll find advice on how to run a local history archive, including data forms for contextual information and an advised system for recording archive content. You'll also find contact details for useful people/organisations should you be struggling.
This is the BIG IDEA, we hope to secure funding to develop archival software that will allow not only the guaranteed preservation of resources for future generations but also easy accessibility and link archives/communities together. PLEASE don't ignore this, find out more!
As we're all about preserving heritage resources here, not necessarily buildings, etc. but the small things, letters, papers, photographs, etc. SO, if we find heritage in need of help we will post it here and hope you'll take a look.
This has been described as one of our more off the wall projects, but we here believe in pre-planning. This project is all about encouraging the careful collation and preservation of the heritage of now, right now, for future generations.
